TEREX CORPORATION MARKS THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ACQUISITION OF THE MONTCEAU-LES-MINES FACILITY BY FINISHING THE 3,000TH REACH STACKER

Montceau-les-Mines, France, 22 May 2015 – Double celebration at Terex Corporation (Terex): On May 20, team members at the French Montceau-les-Mines site celebrated the 20th anniversary of Terex acquiring the facility. At the same time, the 3,000th Terex reach stacker from Terex Port Solutions (TPS), a new Terex® Liftace™ 5-31 stacker, left the assembly line. “We are celebrating two milestones in the history of Terex,” said Chairman and CEO Ron DeFeo. “I would like to thank our customers and team members, who have made Montceau-les-Mines what it is today: a site where innovation is built on proven expertise and cooperation.”

Acquisition meant entry into the port technology business

For port technology in particular, the French site, located north of Lyon, has assumed a central role within Terex. Steve Filipov, President Terex Material Handling & Port Solutions, said: “It was with the acquisition of the site 20 years ago that we first entered the port technology business. At that time, Montceau-les-Mines manufactured all-terrain cranes and reach stackers. These reach stackers were our first machines for terminal operators on coasts and rivers. Since then, Terex has extended its portfolio and with the TPS business group created in 2012, we are now a leading provider of system solutions for the ports of the world.” Represented in all regions of the world, TPS offers customers solutions across the port and for all development phases of their terminal. The expertise at sites that have been established for many years, such as Montceau-les-Mines, is decisive for this success.

Competence center for reach stackers and compact all-terrain cranes

Montceau-les-Mines is a global Terex competence center in the area of all-terrain cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 100 t and also for reach stackers. Development teams in both fields are international and in constant contact with team members around the globe. Cranes from Montceau-les-Mines, such as Terex® Challenger cranes, are of a compact design and offer productive and safe working. The Terex Liftace 5-31 reach stacker from TPS is the first representative of the Terex new-generation lift trucks and was officially launched in April this year. It is designed primarily for maritime and river ports and is therefore part of the TPS portfolio. The fact that it is manufactured in Montceau-les-Mines, a facility of the Terex Cranes business segment, is part of the complementary philosophy of Terex.
