S.V.M.M. GETS FIRST TEREX® EXPLORER 5800 ALL TERRAIN CRANE
IN FRANCE
Montceau Les Mines, France April, 2014 - Michel and Arnaud Brouillard, owners of French based crane rental company S.V.M.M visited the Terex Cranes facility in Montceau Les Mines to get a first impression of their brand new Terex® Explorer 5800 all terrain crane. As the proud owners of the first Explorer 5800 crane in France, they inspected the crane themselves at the recently inaugurated Visitor Center before it was driven to their headquarters.
Designed with worldwide roadability in mind, the Explorer 5800 all terrain crane is especially well suited for French road regulations. “Because of its compactness, it’s a perfect crane for jobsites in an urban environment,” Arnaud Brouillard explains. “The Explorer 5800 has roughly the same footprint as our Terex AC 120 that our operators are well accustomed to, this means they can operate it confidently in a very short time and work efficiently”. Michel Brouillard highlighted the strong lifting capacities, even without any counterweight. SVMM already has several jobs planned for the crane, ranging from the erection of large tower cranes and the assembly of harbor gantry cranes to the construction of a sports arena.
Terex Financial Services Support
SVMM has relied on Terex Cranes for more than 30 years with all units in their fleet, with capacities ranging from 25 t to 250 t, being Terex cranes. The Explorer 5800 crane is the fourth crane they have purchased with the support of Terex Financial Services™ (TFS). Stéphane Levé, TFS Country Manager for France, explains: “TFS is all about tailored financial solutions for our customers. In this case, we have worked in very close collaboration with SVMM and financial partners to put together the best possible financing plan for SVMM.” At the end of the day, the decision for the customer was straightforward: “A strong performing crane, great financial solutions, and a great team to back this up made this an unbeatable package,” says Arnaud Brouillard.
About the Terex® Explorer 5800 all terrain crane
Incorporating a 5-axle, all wheel steer carrier that is just 13.2 m (43.3 ft) long and 3 m (9.8 ft) wide, the Explorer 5800 all terrain crane can be configured with a 10 x 8 x 10 drive steer option and a 70 m (229.7 ft) 5-section boom. Alternatively, boom off and dolly configurations are available for the USA, Canada, Norway, Australia and Japan.
The crane is designed so that the 70.2 t (77.4 USt) counterweight can be automatically rigged. A major new feature of the Explorer 5800 crane is the single engine concept. Powered by a Scania 405kw/550hp engine complying with Euromot Stage IV/US EPA Tier 4F directives, the crane employs the latest engine management system to enhance performance for both road travel and lifting. Fuel efficiency is enhanced using stop/start technology for the upper cabin and engine remapping depending on what type of operation is being performed, lifting or travelling.
The latest Terex IC-1 touch screen control system, along with radio remote control, makes rigging and on-site operation safe and efficient. The control system provides the operator with accurate load moment measurements and wind speeds and simplifies the way the crane operates when handling the most demanding lifts. Designed to operate globally, the system includes 14 pre-programmed languages.
Also new is the 2.85 m (9.35 ft) walk-through carrier cabin with air conditioning, which is ergonomically designed to enhance the operator’s day-to-day experience.
A powerful hydraulic system for crane operation allows up to four simultaneous working movements via two, 2-axis pilot controlled joysticks that can be programmed to accommodate up to three different operators.
