MOMECT S.A. RECEIVES DELIVERY OF A Terex® AC 100/4L FOR DAM MAINTENANCE AND LIFTING MISSIONS IN THE SWISS ALPS

COLLOMBEY-LE-GRAND, October 24th, 2012 – Lifting and heavy transport contractor MOMECT S.A. in Switzerland received a Terex® AC 100/4L all terrain crane. The crane was handed over by Terex Cranes Sales Representative Andreas Schramm to MOMECT’s two crane drivers, Gaylord Saudan and Cyrille Giroud, at the Zweibrücken facility. Chosen according to stringent performance requirements, and equipped with two winches, a double jib, remote-controls, particle filter and outrigger sensors, the AC 100/4L was purchased to perform maintenance tasks on hydro-electric dams in the Swiss Alps as well as other lifting projects.

For MOMECT, the ability to perform efficiently and safely within the constraints of mountainous road and ground conditions present in the Alps were key factors in the company’s purchase-decision process. “For me, the AC 100/4L stands out as the best all terrain model in its class,” says Michel Thurre, director of MOMECT. “Its long 60-meter boom is a great feature that makes it very versatile. It would be hard to find a better cost-performance relation in this class.”

The AC 100/4L is the only 100-tonne capacity class all terrain crane to feature a 2.55-m wide standard truck width. This makes it an excellent solution for narrow, winding roads and restricted jobsites. The crane’s multiple outrigger settings and optional outrigger ground pressure sensors are features that help make crane set-up fast and safe - even on snow-covered and rocky ground.

Its choice of outrigger settings and pressure sensors are great features that allow short and flexible rigging times,” says crane operator Gaylord Saudan. “And the long, double folding jib is fast and easy to set-up. It offers a wide working range… and it’s great on the road,” adds his colleague Cyrille Giroud.

The next day, immediately following the AC 100/4L’s delivery, MOMECT put the crane to work lifting pre-cast concrete on a building project. A day later, the crane was busy handling material on the Hongrin dam. The installation of new valves, weighing 12 tonnes each at a depth of 150 meters to control water flow on the Emossan dam, is another example of the AC 100 4/L’s capabilities.

About the Terex® AC 100/4L

The compact Terex AC 100/4L all terrain crane is the only crane in the 100 tonnes capacity class to feature a standard truck width of 2.55 meters, even when equipped with large 445/95R25 tires. With a telescopic main boom of 59.4 meters and the 10-meter section of its 19-meter-long double folding jib, the crane also features one of the longest system lengths (69.5 meters) that can travel on four axles while complying with a 12-tonne axle load limit. Meanwhile, the crane reaches its maximum system length of 81.7 meters together with an extension system characterized by a high level of versatility: The 19-meter-long double folding jib can be mounted directly on the telescopic boom or on an additional 8-meter extension installed between the telescopic boom and the double folding jib, enabling fast setup times at construction sites. It is possible to offset either the 19-meter double folding jib on the extension or the entire 27 meters (the 19-meter double jib plus the 8-meter extension) on the telescopic boom. This makes it possible to either work with a large working radius or overcome projecting edges of up to 63 meters. A powerful 335-kW (445 hp) engine is responsible for the AC 100/4L’s cost-effective operation, exceptional road-traveling performance, and outstanding fuel economy.
