SARILAR Co. LLC SIGNS CONTRACT

FOR TEREX® CC8800-1 CRAWLER CRANE in TURKEY

Istanbul, Turkey, May 3rd, 2012 – Terex Cranes and its distributor in Turkey, DAS OTOMOTIV, are proud to announce that SARILAR Co. LLC has recently placed an order for the heaviest lifting crane in Turkey. In March, the contract to purchase a 1,600-tonne Terex CC 8800-1 lattice boom crawler crane was officially signed at SARILAR’s headquarters.

Setting a new standard as a centerpiece in SARILAR’s commitment to major infrastructure projects in the global arena, and notably in the Middle East, this new contract follows the purchase of 38 other heavy-lifting Terex crawler cranes in the past decade.

Featuring a 108-meter main boom and SWSL 108-meter luffing fly jib configuration, the Terex CC 8800-1 will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Zweibrücken, Germany. Delivery is planned for the second half of this year.

SARILAR, rising to challenges in the higher league

“Our customer is not only one of the world’s leading rental companies, but also one of the most respected,” says Frank Bardonaro, Vice President & Managing Director Global Sales, Terex Cranes. “Based on the triangle formed by SARILAR, Terex Cranes and our local market distributor DAS OTOMOTIV, we are going to help SARILAR expand their global footprint so they can achieve their goal to compete in a higher league.”

SARILAR is planning to use the crane for the Izmit Bay bridge project, the construction of a power station, and plans for a third bridge linking a 44-km stretch between Ankara and Istanbul over the Bosporus – all great project opportunities to put the CC8800-1’s unmatched lifting abilities to the test.

Currently ranked in 12th place by International Cranes and Specialized Transport (IC Top 50 list), SARILAR already stands among the largest crane service providers in the world. However, as Hanifi Gürbüz, founder and Chairman, SARILAR explains, “This new contract is a package that opens new doors for our company. Our primary objective of putting our company’s signature on today’s most impressive infrastructure projects is now within our reach.”

Furthermore, SARILAR also sees its new CC8800-1 as a significant contributor in the development of the Turkish economy. “Our company aims at using 100 per cent domestic funds to support projects in Turkey and abroad. Machines of this quality are few and far between. Our new crane’s cutting-edge abilities will be a strong asset in securing our country’s economic success and keeping more capital within our country,” says Gürbüz

Skilled local service support, a decisive factor

As part of a scrutinizing evaluation process, the comparison of the Terex Cranes offering with other possible alternatives played a determining role in the purchase decision. “We were extremely impressed by the detailed information that Terex provided us on all aspects of our enquiry,” reports Gürbüz. “For us, Terex is clearly the leading manufacturer for cranes this size, but the presence of DAS OTOMOTIV also proved to be a decisive factor. We have been working together for several years. They have a great track record in product support and their skilled product support team is pivotal in the success of our future growth.”

“SARILAR is an extremely discerning customer and our team is particularly proud that they chose Terex Cranes,” notes Bardonaro. “Terex Cranes together with DAS OTOMOTIV, our distributor in Turkey for 16 years, have a strong bond and they have a lot to bring to SARILAR as it rises to future challenges.”

SARILAR is counting on DAS OTOMOTIV for service support, training and maintenance. For DAS, this will involve crane erection and set-up, parts supplies and warranty services that its customer qualifies as indispensable.

About the Terex CC8800-1 lattice boom crawler crane

The Terex CC 8800-1 is one of the most powerful series-produced mobile cranes in the world. Offering a maximum lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes [1,764 US tons] and a maximum load moment of 24,002 mt, its Superlift radius falls between 19 and 30 meters [62 and 98 feet]. With an SWSL luffing fly jib boom configuration, the crane can reach a maximum boom length of 216 meters [708 ft]. The crane is designed for worldwide transportation – none of its components is wider than 3.5 meters [11.5 ft], and almost all of them have a shipping weight of less than 40 metric tonnes [44 tons]. In addition to the advantages of its working range limiting function and a ground pressure display, the CC8800-1’s IC-1 control system also provides extensive auto-diagnostic functions, to make on-site troubleshooting easier and increase uptime. Two identical independent drive units, as well as a second independent control system also further increase uptime on the job site. As a result, the CC8800-1 can continue its work even if one of its engines or control systems fails (e.g., in the case of a lightning strike). An optional TWIN kit can be used to increase lifting capacity to 3,200 metric tonnes [3,527 tons] – the current world record for mobile cranes in operation.
