TEREX receives ESTA’s safety Award
at annual awards of excellence dinner

PARIS, FRANCE, April 24th, 2012 – In an event that brought together hundreds of crane and transportation company giants, Terex Corporation was recognized with the prestigious Safety award handed out by the European Association of Abnormal Road Transport and Mobile Cranes (ESTA). Terex received the award at the 9th annual ESTA Awards of Excellence dinner held on April 19, 2012 at the Hotel Hilton Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

“Safety is a top priority throughout the entire Terex organization, from our CEO, Ron DeFeo, to our team members working on the line,” says Kevin Bradley, President Terex Cranes. “It is gratifying to see our dedication to safety being recognized by industry peers.”

Safe operation of cranes is paramount to providing quality service to the industry, and ESTA developed the Safety award to recognize those companies who have made a significant impact on safety by promoting safe work practices and equipment that prevent injuries and accidents. The ingenious Terex® Fall Protection System won this category for making significant strides in improving safety when working with lattice booms.

“Advancing safety standards is a critical part of our product development process,” says Klaus Meissner, director of product integrity for Terex Cranes. “No other manufacturer offers such a fall protection system, and we are excited to be recognized for our work, which benefits safe crane operation for the industry as a whole.” Meissner was on hand to receive the award along with Ron DeFeo, Terex CEO, Kevin Bradley, President Terex Cranes, Francois Truffier, Vice President and General Manager Terex Cranes, Steve Filipov, President Developing Markets Terex Cranes, and Francois Jourdan, Vice President Marketing Terex Cranes.

The inventive Terex Fall Protection System advances safety when rigging the boom sections of lattice boom cranes. Retracted and stowed on the main boom for transport, the fall protection device is quickly installed from ground level. The device includes a vest harness equipped with a shock absorber and provides secured, tethered walking and working on the main boom. In the unlikely event of the fall protection being actuated, it stops the fall prior to the worker reaching the ground, lessening the possibility of injury.
