First Terex® CC6800 crawler crane Lift in China
Luxi Chemical, Liaocheng, Shandong Province, China, August 3rd, 2011 – On March 18, 2011, Luxi Chemical Group Co., Ltd., prepared to put the very first Terex CC6800 lattice boom crawler crane to work in China. The lift was big, a 462 tonne, 35.4-meter high, 2.4 meter diameter reactor, but well within the capability of the crane.
The job began early in the morning with Terex Cranes application engineers on-site for support during this first lift. The 1250-tonne Terex CC6800 was assembled with a 60 meter main boom in SSL configuration to lift and place the reactor on its 3.6-meter high pedestal. To match the crane to the heavy lifting requirements within a confined working area, the superlift radius was choosen at 18 meters, with a counterweight of 100 tonnes.
As Zaho Yuting, Chief Engineer of Luxi Chemical Group remarked, “The Terex CC6800 is a surprisingly easy and reliable crane to operate. The total lifting process can be controlled accurately and clearly via two redundant integrated IC-1 control systems. The Vario Superlift System, which allows to modify the radius of the counterweight plate, made the lifting process even more convenient by solving the issue of limited slewing space, and ensuring that the reactor was lifted and placed down on its pedestal smoothly.”
The lift was completed successfully in less than 3 hours. Additional jobs completed by the Terex CC6800 on the same site included lifting a 416-tonne ammonia converter, as well as several 100 to 200-tonne jobs involving structural components. Completion of the Luxi Chemical project took around one month.
