terex cranes commits $21,000 to fund new corporate-named scholarship for the SC&R Foundation
Westport , USA, June 15th, 2011 – Terex Cranes has committed $21,000 to the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association’s Foundation (SC&R Foundation) for a new corporate-named scholarship program. The donation serves as a multi-year commitment for Terex to help advance the education of SC&RA member company employees and their family members.
“Terex is proud to help the SC&R Foundation create a program that allows for corporate sponsorships, which will add funding stability to its continuing education scholarships program,” says Frank Bardonaro, Vice President and Managing Director for Terex Cranes North America and 2010-2011 chair for SC&RA’s Crane & Rigging Group. “The Foundation is instrumental in assuring ongoing success in the education and safety training for the industry.”
To date, Terex Cranes has been joined by three other SC&RA member companies in the corporate-named scholarship program. The first corporate scholarship will be awarded in 2012. The $21,000 donation, named the Terex Continuing Education Scholarship, will be applied at a rate of $3,000 per year for seven years.
The new corporate-named scholarship is an extension of the SC&R Foundation’s existing continuing education program. Initiated in 1986, the Foundation’s scholarship program has offered nearly $300,000 in grants and scholarships. “The program benefits the industry and company members by attracting and retaining qualified people in the industry,” says Jackie Roskos, Director of Marketing and SC&R Foundation Manager. “We are excited to have Terex partner with us as the first donor to the corporate-named scholarship program.”
SC&RA member company employees and their family members are eligible for the scholarships. The course of study must lead to a bachelor/masters degree in a field related to the specialized carriers and rigging industry.
