NEW TEREX® ROADMASTER 8000 UNVEILED AT “JDL” EVENT – PARIS, FRANCE

Zweibrücken, Germany / Paris, France, September 9-10, 2010 – Terex Cranes announces the launch of its new Terex® Roadmaster 8000 truck mounted crane, the latest 100-tonne addition to the company's crane range, at Les Journées du Levage (JDL), Paris - France.

With an expected 7000 visitors to this year’s show, Terex Cranes’ presence will be highlighted by the launch of the new Roadmaster 8000, featured among four crane models specially selected to represent the extensive range of Terex cranes.

Terex® Roadmaster 8000

The latest 100-tonne addition to the Terex Cranes range, the Roadmaster 8000 truck mounted crane is designed to offer low total cost of ownership in a wide variety of applications, useable as a “one-man” crane. Utilizing an innovative superstructure design and an outrigger frame concept developed by company engineers at the Terex Cranes facility in Montceau-les-Mines, France, the Roadmaster 8000 uses a commercial 5-axle truck carrier built by reputable truck manufacturers. Its innovative design offers best-in-class lifting capacity. The Roadmaster 8000 features two main boom options with 59.4 m or 50 m boom length, and a maximum system length of 81.7 m or 77 m respectively. Its YX-type outriggers provide excellent stability. Efficient and simple to use by one crane operator, the new Roadmaster 8000 is capable of lifting a high load, and is already in roadable configuration without the need for additional transport. Both simple and versatile, the new truck mounted crane is a taxi crane, ideal for crane rigging, residential construction, equipment placement and for rental companies.

This new truck mounted crane provides a lifting capacity of 7 t at 20 m radius with a fully extended boom and 9.1 t counterweight, supported by a tried and trusted outrigger system for excellent stability.

Equipped with a 2.55 m wide, 10.6 m long commercial truck base, for a 13.25 m total crane length, using standard components and easily available spare parts, this versatile, “one-man” crane is surprisingly simple to service and operate. Capable of travelling with its 9.1 tonne counterweight within the allowed axle load, it is ready to work rapidly without additional transportation back-up. For jobs that require more counterweight, the Roadmaster 8000 can pull everything needed for its full 23.9 tonnes counterweight configuration on a standard trailer. The Roadmaster 8000 offers the additional advantage of a surprisingly low fuel consumption and exhaust emissions (fulfilled by the selected truck manufacturer).

The new Roadmaster 8000 also features the latest in crane operator cab design-innovation. Based on a series of interactive workshops with customers, the new Terex Cranes cab concept offers an appealing, streamlined exterior design and completely new working environment to match customers' demands for comfort, productivity and safety.
