Terex® CC 2800-1 NT delivery premiere to IMPSA Wind, Brazil
ZWEIBRÜCKEN, July 2, 2010 - The first Terex® CC 2800-1 NT Crawler Crane to be delivered to Brazil was recently handed over to José Eduardo Teixeira de Carvalho Filho, Director of Operations, IMPSA Wind.
IMPSA Wind is dedicated to providing comprehensive, wind-power solutions from the design and manufacture of 1.5 and 2.1 MW wind turbines, to their installation and maintenance worldwide. Given Brazil's rapidly growing market, owning the right heavy-lift equipment was a priority for IMPSA since cranes in the 600-tonne class play an essential part in the optimization of the production process. In addition to market growth overall, both the size and weight of turbine modules are steadily increasing so crane performance must be capable of adapting to these needs.
The CC 2800-1 NT delivered to IMPSA is equipped with an 84-meter main boom, light fixed jib (LF 2) and S7 kit to provide the huge lifting capacity required for the erection of wind turbines. The S7 kit consists of up to four, heavy 12-meter sections which can be mounted after the boom foot section when lighter 12-meter sections below the tip are removed.
A Superlift Kit is also on order to further increase the crane's lift potential (97.5 tonne loads lifted up to 130 meters at 138-meter hook height) on wind turbine construction sites throughout the country.
About the Terex® CC 2800-1 NT
The Terex® CC 2800-1 NT Crawler Crane offers a high return on investment and is among the most economical and versatile narrow-track cranes in the 600-tonne class. Using a selection of specially designed accessories, the crane is convertible from standard (CC 2800-1) heavy-lift configuration to Narrow Track crane (CC 2800-1 NT) - and back, providing outstanding performance in a wide variety of applications, in addition to wind farm sites, where extra-heavy load capacity is a necessity.
Recognizing the high potential of the on-shore wind turbine market and the subsequent need for dedicated equipment in the 600-tonne class, Terex Cranes developed the CC 2800-1 NT (narrow track) from the standard CC 2800-1 version, to suit specific wind farm construction requirements. Equipped with its Narrow Track chassis, the Terex CC 2800-1 NT can be driven from one construction site to the next, even when access is tight (minimum five meters) while fully rigged with counterweights, 102m main boom and LF 2 fixed jib, saving precious time and increasing productivity.
The CC 2800-1 NT version is based on a conventional CC 2800-1, where the standard chassis (8. 4 meter track width) is replaced with the Narrow-Track Kit comprising: chassis track with 5.3 m outer track width and front and rear outriggers, 2 outrigger pads (5 m x 1.4 m) for both front and rear outriggers, two side outriggers with outrigger pads (3 m x 2.4 m), counterweight suspension frame to lower the center gravity and control system with remote-control unit and full-color graphic display monitor at the rear of the crane chassis. To ensure stability and optimum rigging times, both front and rear outrigger beams remain connected to the carrier.
