major contract to Terex® Noell
ZWEIBRÜCKEN, March 24, 2010 – A contract for the supply of 6 Diesel-Electric Straddle Carriers, 1 over 3-high, was signed between Terex® Noell, (represented by manufacturer Noell Mobile Systems GmbH, Würzburg – Germany), and Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) - Bangladesh, last December.
For CPA, one of the Top 100 container ports in the world, the decision to replace the existing outdated, mechanical straddle carriers of diverse origins, by state-of-the-art Terex® Noell technology, is part of a major port modernization project designed to handle the region’s increasingly upward trend in container traffic volumes.
In addition to being the first order for straddle carriers that CPA has ever placed with Terex® Noell, the contract sets a milestone for CPA in terms of economy as well as technology. More than providing the latest technology currently available on this particular market segment, these machines also cut a strong economic advantage when it comes to fuel, maintenance, spare parts and final ownership costs.
CPA already operate 6 Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) Cranes, supplied by Noell Crane Systems GmbH 5 years ago.
